To inaugurate the spring season, the musical band of Issime, the Musikkapelle ‘La Lira’, with guest conductor Fabio Porté, offers a concert with the participation of the ‘Singen Mit Herz’ choir, directed by Maestro Alex Danna.
The band, founded in 1906, had 19 musicians, supervised and conducted by Maestro Piovano from Nomaglio. The great enthusiasm for this musical group stimulated many young people to study music, and already in the early years the band’s activity was intense, under the direction of some local musicians. “La Lira” was and is still nowadays called upon to cheer patronal feasts, weddings and private parties, both in Issime and in the neighbouring villages.
The choir – whose meaning is ‘singing with the heart’ – was born before the pandemic, in the summer of 2019, from an initiative of the municipalities of the upper Lys Valley (Gressoney-La-Trinité, Gressoney-Saint-Jean, Gaby and Issime) and the Walser Cultural Centre.
